When getting ready for an outdoor adventure, there is always a sense of excitement and nervousness associated with what to expect for the day. We are here to put your mind at ease by giving you a guideline of what to expect when you arrive for your New Mexico River Adventure.
What To Expect
1. Read Your Confirmation Email
We pride ourselves on providing our guests with clear and concise information regarding all aspects of their experience with our company. This includes where to meet and at what time, what to wear, easy to sign liability releases, a clear Cancellation Policy, contact information as well as any other considerations you should be aware of. By reviewing your Confirmation email, you are setting yourself up for a successful day!
2. Sign your Liability Release
We ask that you and your crew sign your electronic waivers prior to arriving for your trip. This helps make the check-in process more streamline.
3. Read the Directions to Your Meeting Point
Although all of our Rio Grande trips meet at our Headquarters, our Rio Chama trips meet at Bode’s General Store. Be sure to thoroughly read your confirmation email to verify your meeting location. We take great care in providing our guests with easy-to-follow instructions to our meeting points– located in the Attachments portion of your Confirmation email– as well as a link via Google Maps. Although some GPS systems will get you lost in New Mexico, we have found that Google Maps will get you directly to our location. If you have any questions regarding your meeting point, please contact us at 505-983-7756 or by emailing us at info@newmexicoriveradventures.com
4. Parking
During our busiest times, we will have a parking attendant ready to greet you with a smile at our gates. They will instruct you on where to park based on the trip you have scheduled for the day. If you do not see an attendant, please feel free to park in any available spot in front of the Headquarters.
5. Check-in Process
After parking, you will head into the shop where you will be informed about what to bring with you for the day as well as where to store personal items. At this point we will take care of any remaining trip payments and missing waivers. Be sure to leave your car keys with the office staff before heading out back for outfitting.
6. Meet Your Guides
It’s time to meet your guides for your adventure! When all parties on your trip have been checked-in, you will be directed to our outfitting location. Here you will meet your Trip Leader as well as any other guides on your trip. They will outfit you in PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) and helmets. During our colder months we do offer splash jackets and wetsuits for no additional cost.
7. Safety Briefing
Once outfitted in all of your rafting equipment, you will sit down for a detailed safety orientation. The safety speech will go over all river safety scenarios.
8. Let the Adventure Begin!
Get ready because it’s time for the adventure to begin! We will hop in our vehicles and shuttle you to the river. At this point, your guide is the captain and they are ready to give you the time of your life!
9. Back to the Shop
Once off the river, you’ll have a quick shuttle back to our headquarters. Your guides will meet you in our shop where you can take a look at photos of your group going through the last rapid of the day! Although tipping isn’t required, our guides do greatly appreciate them. Be sure to check out our one of a kind NMRA gear to commemorate your adventure with us! We’ll see you next time!
