Cuisine

Food is basic in life and good food in the outdoors is a must. We use local fresh foods and vegetables on all of our trips. Our guides are culinary masters of Dutch oven cooking and outdoor grilling. We combine great southwestern cuisine with a gourmet flair that will get your taste buds rolling after a day of exploration.  Don’t forget to let us know if you have any special requests, food allergies or dietary restrictions as we always go above and beyond to accommodate all our guests needs.

New Mexico River Adventures uses the tastiest, freshest, natural foods available for all its adventures. We work with local farmers, groceries, bakeries, and beverage companies, allowing us to offer the highest quality fare to be found on the river or in the field. New Mexico River Adventures also works with gourmet chefs and any trip can be custom catered by these masters of cuisine. New Mexico River Adventures was featured with Bobby Flay (BBQ w/ Bobby Flay #106) and showed him how we do it on the Rio.

Multi Day River Trip’s Carefully Curated Menus

Join us on one of our many Rio Grande or Rio Chama overnight trips and find out that there is much more to enjoy than just the river itself.  Our meals are delicious, fun and often times surprising for our guests.  We often here feedback like, “we expected burgers and hot dogs, instead we enjoyed 3-4 course meals!”.  Our Guides love getting creative and pushing the boundaries with our carefully curated menus.  For an even bigger twist, try out our Rio Chama Gourmet Wine Pairing trip or our beer and dinner pairings on our Rivers and Brews trip.  Either way you’re in for a treat while sitting back in a comfortable camp chair and listening to the river drift by.  Here is a sampling of some of our more popular meals we prepare on our multi-day river trips:

Breakfasts:

  • Brioche or cinnamon French Toast with fresh berries and applewood smoked bacon
  • New Mexican Migas with hatch green chile and warm tortillas
  • Sweet and Savory Crepes
  • Hardy meat and vegetarian breakfast sandwiches

Lunches:

  • NMRA’s signature Frickin’ Chickin’ Salad wraps
  • Napa cabbage asian salad with toasted sesame dressing
  • Sonoran crunch salad
  • Deli Sandwich Buffet with fresh fruits and dips

Dinners:

  • New Mexican Green Chile Enchiladas
  • NMRA Surf and Turf
  • Sausage, mushroom and artichoke pesto pasta
  • Steak and Shrimp Fajitas with fresh pico de gallo and guacamole

Chicken Fajitas on Full Day Trips and on the Deck at NMRA!

NMRA is the only company in New Mexico offering a full, hot lunch prepared riverside for you on most all of our full day trips.  We introduced our signature Chicken Fajita lunch in 2015 and it has become a guest favorite.  We go the extra mile by bringing stoves and cookware along on our day trips to be able to prepare for our guests the best lunch on the river.  New Mexico River Adventures is excited to invite all of our guests to add on our famous Chicken Fajita Lunch either before or after your adventure with us right here at our headquarters! We are offering chicken, sauteed onions and peppers, shredded cheese, our signature fajita sauce, black beans, spanish rice, fresh melon, cold drinks and dessert at $15 per person. You can also feel free to grab a growler from our neighbors at Blue Heron Brewing to enjoy with your meal. Call our office to add this on to your trip! Don’t wait to book your trip- whether you are wanting to go kayaking, paddle boarding, or white water rafting in New Mexico, we’re ready for you!
