How To Become A Raft Guide – Raft Guide Jobs
Ever wonder what the greatest job on earth is? Yep, you guessed it, River Guiding! Whether you become a career river guide, traveling all over the world and chasing the greatest whitewater on the planet, or a college student looking for a rewarding summertime job, a raft guide job can provide you with a lifetime passion and a new sense of understanding and appreciation for rivers and the wilderness. It all starts with finding the right Guide School that works for you. You should consider the experience of your instructors, the length of the course as well as the company that is sponsoring the course as most times you will end up working for that company after your course is complete.
At New Mexico River Adventures, we pride ourselves on providing the best Guide School and instruction in the Southwest. Our instructors are extremely experienced on rivers throughout the East and West Coasts, and worldwide. We are pleased to hear again and again from our Guides that have moved on to experience other rivers in other places that the training they received at NMRA was second to none and prepared them to be the best in any place else they have rafted.
It is imperative that you start with strong core skills and don’t pick up any bad habits along the way. It is also important that you get a broad understanding of river safety principles and a swift water rescue certification to build upon as your career as a river guide develops. These and more can be obtained at New Mexico River Adventures Annual Guide School.
