New Mexico river rafting and water sports are offered through New Mexico River Adventures. We are proud to be the New Mexico’s Top Rated Rafting, Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding outfitter. Our Rafting and Kayaking headquarters is located on Hwy 68 about an hour and north of Santa Fe and thirty minutes south of Taos nestled in the heart of the quaint Village of Rinconada. We are less than a mile from the take-out of the most popular section of the Rio Grande, the Racecourse.

We know our guests have a choice and we appreciate the opportunity to share our love for the rivers of New Mexico with each and every guest.  Are goal is to provide the most fun, safe and professional experience available in the Taos and Santa Fe area.  Our Guides are the primary reason we are able to deliver this each and every day.  We have the most well trained and dedicated young professionals in the region eager to pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm to create adventures that will surely be the most memorable of your vacation!

At New Mexico River Adventures we believe that your trip starts the minute you arrive at our headquarters. Our facility provides our guests with all the amenities to make your New Mexico river rafting trip, rock climbing trip or kayak instruction the absolute best possible and highlight of your vacation. Upon arriving, our guests will appreciate the welcoming atmosphere as well as the private and secure parking. Don’t worry if you forgot any items for your trip as our outfitters store provides easy access to any last minute items you might need for your adventure, including water shoes, chums and sunscreen.

After checking in and meeting your guides, you will enjoy our private changing rooms and restrooms before it’s off to the river. After the trip, our Headquarters provides the perfect atmosphere to relax and chat with the guides and other guests as you view your whitewater photos taken of you and your raft. Photos are available to purchase and you can leave with all of the photos of your whitewater adventure on a personalized usb drive or digital download. Ready to post, print or share for all your friends and family to enjoy!

Please Note: Using your GPS will get you close to us, however, due to our rural location, it won’t usually lead you all the way to our headquarters so please follow the written directions below and call with any questions.  You can also always reach us by e-mail at info@newmexicoriveradventures.com.

Rio Grande Trips

Directions:

From Albuquerque (2 Hours):

Take Interstate-25 North from Albuquerque towards Santa Fe. Exit on the 599 Santa Fe Relief Route heading north to Taos.

Take US HWY 285 north toward Espanola. In the Town of Espanola (Approx 20 miles north from Santa Fe) Rio Grande trips continue forward following the signs towards TAOS on NM HWY 68. Do not make any turns in Espanola (HWY 285 turns off, FOLLOW SIGNS TO TAOS). Continue on NM HWY 68 towards Taos. You will pass Lowes, Walmart, and the Ohkay Owingeh Casino. Our Headquarters is located 25 min. north of Espanola, on the south side of the HWY, just past mile marker 22 in the Village of Rinconada. Look for a blue and yellow sign with a yellow kayak attached to it on the right side of the highway. The sign reads, ‘RAFTING, KAYAKING and PADDLE BOARDING’

From Taos (30 min from Plaza):

Take NM HWY 68 south (Paseo del Pueblo Sur) 18 miles south of Taos toward Santa Fe (Do Not go to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge!). You will pass the Rio Grande Gorge Visitors Center and follow the river through the canyon. Just past the county line you will enter the Village of Rinconada. We are located on the south (left) side of the road between mile markers 23 and 22 (mile markers are descending). Look for a blue and yellow sign with a yellow kayak attached to it on the right side of the highway. The sign reads, ‘RAFTING, KAYAKING and PADDLE BOARDING’

From Santa Fe (1 hour from Plaza):

Take US HWY 285 north (St. Francis drive) to Espanola. In the Town of Espanola (Approx 20 miles north from Santa Fe) Rio Grande trips continue forward following the signs towards TAOS on NM HWY 68. Do not make any turns in Espanola (HWY 285 turns off, FOLLOW SIGNS TO TAOS). Continue on NM HWY 68 towards Taos. You will pass Lowes, Walmart, and the Ohkay Owingeh Casino. Time to Drive:

It is approx. 22 miles to Espanola and another 20-30 miles to the meeting points. It takes approx. 1 hr to get to river in AM. It takes approx. 1.25 hrs to get to river in PM.

Rio Chama Trips

To arrive at Bode’s General Store will take you approx. 1hr + North out of Santa Fe on HWY 84/285.

Directions: It should only take 25 minutes to arrive in Espanola from Santa Fe. Make the left turn in Espanola continuing on HWY 84/285. Continue on HWY 84/285 and do not turn right onto HWY 285 as it splits off 84. Abiquiu is another 15 miles further up Hwy 84 New Mexico River Adventures.
