This trip meets at our private, Rio Grande Headquarters which is conveniently located 1 hour north of Santa Fe and 30 min. south of Taos. Our fully stocked Headquarters and Outfitters Shop is in the heart of the Rio Grande Gorge right across the street from the river, less than 1 mile from the finishing point of the most popular trips and offers safe, secure parking in our private parking lot.

Frequently asked questions

What time of year are you courses offered?
Dates for all of our ACA certification courses in December and January and vary year to year. We usually offer courses in the Spring and Fall. Our custom courses are available at different times throughout the season, please contact our helpful reservation staff for more information and to reserve your space.

What kind of certification will I receive?
Our ACA courses have the opportunity to receive up to a level 4 certification in each skill. Certifications are determined by class participation, understanding of the material and skills.

Who will my instructors be?
All of our instructors are industry leaders with a high level of skill and experience. Their patient, knowledgeable approach to each skill will set you up for not only a fruitful but fun experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Maybe you’re a beginner kayaker looking to improve your whitewater roll, work on your forward stroke or improve your river reading skills. Or could it be that you’re an advanced kayaker interested in learning the latest freestyle moves or hoping for some guidance with your boof and the principles of creek boating. Our instructors will work with you from the time you call until your return to our headquarters in setting personal goals and following through to help with the progression of your paddling techniques. The individual attention you receive with our private lesson is sure to make a huge difference in your outlook on the wonderful sport of whitewater kayaking.

All of our courses meet at our whitewater headquarters in the heart of the Rio Grande Gorge. With a wide variety of sections, the Rio Grande is the perfect venue for any and all styles and skill levels of kayaking. Oh and did we mention warm water? Yes, in the later summer months the combination of water levels and warm water temperatures make the Rio Grande the perfect river to learn to kayak. The majority of our students turn right around and reserve a space in one of our many other clinics to pursue their progression in this awesome activity. Lets go kayaking!
